Good logic... but when kicking to measure compression, the exhaust port is the last one to close as the piston comes up, and the RPM is too slow for any effects of tuning to be happening, so you end up measuring how well the piston can compress the amount of air trapped after the exhaust port closes. Therefore crank seals aren't involved.

Compression should be in the 150psi range and measures the seating of rings to the cylinder and head volume. Condition of crank seals is not a factor.

Crankseal (leakdown) test is done at 6psi, as 150psi would blow out the seals, and measures the ability of seals and all associated intake/cylinder seals to contain that pressure for a period of time.

Rings don't need to be installed to perform a crankseal test and crankseals can be missing and get a good compression test.

A part of the crankseal test is to apply a vacuum test as well as pressure test.

Two totally different things with different meanings as results are evaluated.

So here's another silly question. what are the symptoms of an engine running with a bad crank seal, or seals? I understand compression.. but a bad crank seal does what to a running bike?

Symptoms vary depending on how bad and what seal is leaking. Internal leaks will cause a general lack of power, more noticeable at lower rpms. External seal leaks can cause lean mixtures or trans oil leaking into cylinder.
If plugs are inserted into manifold adapters rather than cylinder intakes, and exhaust ports of an assembled engine, a test will check head gasket, base gasket, intake manifold gasket, case seal, internal and external seals.
If lab seals are used on the crank, the test must be done on all cylinders at once rather than one cylinder at a time.

UPDATE:
Jim at lakeland services rebuilt my CDI boxes, all four. It started first kick, even on my old supposedly fouled plugs..

it runs great, thanks guys for the help..

now all I have to do is button her up, and paint the body parts,, and we just might see a pretty nice H2C come up for sale in the next couple of months.
