 Post subject: Snapped brale bleeder

As per the attched pic does anyone know the best way to remove the brake bleeder that has snapped off ? Helicoil mabye ? or just throw it away. I may have a job lot on these things soon, include a working KZ650 caliper, and another caliper with the Piston stuck, no amount of comepressed air gets its out, and least on my 2 hp model.

Oh, I forgot the working KZcaliper. FYI. These have adifferent connecting pattern, ie no metal hose.

Anyway just for reference. All subtle but important variations, which are all different again to the H1's I am told.

An easy way to get the piston out of a caliper is to hook it to a good master/cyl and pump it out.

Good tips using a master cylinder and a grease gun to pop the piston out.

I am lazy and this is what I do with stuck pistons. I put the caliper in the oven at about 270 to 300 degrees F for about 1/2 hour. Then I use compressed air to push the piston out. It has worked many times for me. Use gloves.

I must be be crap at communicating... my fault.. question is how do I get the snapped bleeder valve out, apart from trying the extractor tool which did not work for me,

I would drill it out -- how steady are your hands? Once you get close to the threads, the carcass should collapse.

I think Ian's right - its buried in there pretty good.

I've always had terrible luck in your position, sometimes successful but not often, even drilling out a broken bolt - and I know I center punch the middle - always drifts :o It's like riding a dirt-bike down a rutted road, there is some force that pulls me into it :o :o :o

So I have a pretty good assortment of taps, dies, various extractors and the like and they have been a huge help. One this item I bought a few year ago was an "OK" mill/drill (Harbor Freight but it was rated well). Between that and a few different vises that attach to it I've been able to rescue a lot odd bits of broken-ness.
