A VERY thin smear of fuel resistant silicone grease upon assembly helps too. Don't operate it dry (no fuel) either..

Got it done. I think I had two problems. When I rebuilt the petcock I did not have the vent holes lined up correctly. I fixed that and still had a drip but Jim sent me the correct O-rings so no more dripping petcock!

Good, I'm glad that did it. I have half a dozen petcock spare diaphragms here, and they all have rock-hard o-rings on the plungers.

The new 10% gas takes a toll quickly on some rubber parts.

True, but in this case my old rock-hard ones have never seen "new" gasoline, and the O-rings I sent Jim are Viton, so they should last a while.

I recently had a CHINESE copy petcock on my Z1 that the rubber parts turned into gummy worms and o-rings on the carb junctions did the same.
