I have done a search and can't find much on this other than a post when someone was using a 250 pump on a 750 which was stated as being 'close to the limit'. I rather gather by that post that the 250 pump should be OK on the 500 then?

i'm pretty sure gary t in the uk (scouse) uses a kh250 pump on his h1. it has to be a kh250 pump as that pumps more volume than earlier s series pumps

I had a bit of a poke about and now have the info I require:-

Oil Pump Output @ 2000RPM/3min

KH 250 3.75-4.43 cc
H1 500 5.05-5.83 cc

The 500 pump kicks out about 30% more of the 'slippery stuff' than the KH 250

Looks as if I missed out on a good pump on fleabay last night!! :banghead

Interesting....why did the 250 pump have a higher volume than the 350/400 pump?

Probably had to rev it harder with the throttle cable stretched to max, just to get about?

It might have to do with the fact the the Superlube system fires oil into the incoming fuel rather than down to the bearings like the Injectolube system. The intact tract is smaller on a 250 than a 400 but the crank is the same so it might require a bit more oil volume (oil to fuel ratio) to get the same amount of bottom end lubrication? OK, that was just a guess... :geek:
