Ok KH500 again. Cable appears good condition . It spins and I have oiled it. Both connections seem to tighten up ok. Is tehre something I am missing ? I have taken a apart and put back together the front wheel , all components. Could there be somethign there ? |

Attach the tach cable to the speedo and see if the speedo shows movement with rpm changes. That will tell you whether on not the speedo itself is ok. |

Will do. I like the scientific approach. |

Sometimes a "good" cable will have a stretched or worn outer sleeve so that when both ends appear to be properly assembled, one end or the other is not engaged. |

Use a drill on the end of the cable, just be careful not to kink it. |

Great tip. The Speedo spins to about 30 kms on reverse on the drill. That rules out the speedo as the problem. I guess I just need now to resit the cable and go for a ride and test ? Only problems its 35 C outside. Too damn hot for anything. |

You can also install the bottom cable and spin the tire to see if the cable is also. |

Is the speedo drive "bow tie" shaped plate properly engaged within the lugs on the end of the wheel hub? Often the front wheel/axle is assembled incorrectly and this driving plate gets bent back and no longer engages.... J |
