So....I did the math. I added up the brain teasers, subtracted 1972 and added 3, then 750. . ..Came up with 4 oz. per gallon.(About 32.1) GREAT! At first I thought that it was just useless banter!,

All the badgering made me get serious about repairing my pil pump...As of today, it works perfectly. It was a mixture of purchased and donated parts and lots of helpful advise and ridicule. I've learned a lot and will share what I now know. Thanks ALL!! :D

As far as the synthetics go, I kinda judge the health of the engine by blipping the throttle and see that all pipes exude the same amount of smoke. I don't mind that the dude behind me on the dresser Harley has a lung ailment and I'm fond of the smell of my KLOTZ Techniplate. I was just skeered to injure my crank running pre-mix since I'm still running crank oil slingers and non slotted rods. Also, my Tracy body holds about 2 maybe 2.5 gallons and with a 20 to 25 mpg range, I had to plan my trips! :D

As fate would have it, my most recent resurection is an H2c with H2a oilpump and lines(in a box of parts) etc. Anyway, I've installed an ANCIENT but still new in the shipping box (and oiled) Falicon SUPER crank with the oil slingers removed. I will indeed run the 4oz. per gallon in this machine and keep the pump parts as spares for my other two pumped triples. As I was made to understand, pre mixing is safe when said slingers are removed?

Zero,
If it matters, I have a couple/several dirt boiks.
The RS250 gets 3 oz. per gal.
The TM400; if I'm trail riding and plonking around, 3 oz. If I know I'm gonna be somewhere and there will be a LOT of top end wailing, 3.5 oz per gallon.

The 125 Rickman gets 25:1.
The 250 Rickman gets 32:1.
And they smoke a lot...

Yer running 3-250's? in an H-2.

I'd say start your pre-mix where you are comfortable, and start, SLOWLY, decreasing the oil content per gallon, until you are saticefied with the level of smoke.

I will agree with the comment about the superiority of modern oils though, properly mixed, they are nearly smokeless!

20:1 is equal to about 6 oz. a gallon, which is the OLD motor oil system for pre-mix, THICK! 2-stroke injection oils far outperform motor oil for lubrication properties.

DO remember that too much oil _DECREASES_ the actual gasoline flow through the jets and orifaces. It's possible to get a mixture that has charicturistics of a lean jetting set-up.

Tha's why you adjust your jetting for premix.
