I have a gap at the top of both my rear shocks on my KH500. The dome nuts do not screw far enough on to tighten teh shock. Does any know what is meant to go there? apart froma buch of washers. Thanks heaps. Great sight by the way. We dont get many triples in Austrlai any more.

Do you have a grab rail? If not, use washers.

YEP without the grab rail, the void will need a few thick washers.
DONT try to tighten the acorn nuts without filling the space in, they will blow their tops.

yet another in the long line of, "don't ask me how I know" answers.

As for Aussie owners, there are a good few down under.
You will find a great group of Australian and New Zealand triple addicts here.
Welcome.

Something isn't right.
There should be flat washer, the shock, grab bar, then flat washer, lock washer, acorn nut.

I think I have left off the brass spacer inside the shock. I will try that.

Seems like I still have a problem. The spacers on the inside of the shock fit snugly inside the rubber on the top of the shock BUT completely cover the thread .... I enclosed a pic to help explain. If I just use a washer, shock, hand rail washer and nut there is not enough room on the thread or if I put the shock on the smooth part of thread, there is way too much room. Maybe I should just use extra washers, but I would like to know what is wrong. They are standard shocks albiet aftermarket, but appear the same as the originals which I still have.

Steel bushings are for the lower mount, not the top one.
See picture.

#13 is the collars for the lower mount.
Only washers and dome nuts for the top. (grab rail too)

If they are aftermarket, then do what you need to do, add a couple of washers.....
