I think you may have given a clue already. If you have street (integral silencers) Wirges pipes (2 cones and a loooong straight belly) they have a dumb inner baffle that usually plugs up. A clogged exhaust results in the bike falling on its face early in the rev range. :(

The more I think about this and the bikes I have owned, the first thing that HAS to be done, is get the existing systems working properly:

Clean carb thoroighly and set carb float level and fuel valve replaced - doesn't seem like anybody has jetting recomendations so go with what you got
Set ignitions timing and do the best you can to determine if you've got good spark
Compression sounds reasonable although bad crank seals can make the thing run like a pig
Pull the tank and covers and go over every nut and bolt looking for trouble
Also, perhaps someone in your area could stop by for a look

Check it all out. I personally don't even try to run a motor i don't know. They get a total rebuild right off the bat......

Ja moo you are probably right, Gotta get the shop all squared away first. I have too much stuff to maintain.... Geez. So the pipes suck. That's too bad. Perhaps I can cut one open and inspect the baffle. At least it will be interesting to figure it out. I need some local triple friends.

The baffle is fubar, a very bad idea. You can pull it out, but the pipes still suck.

It looks like those pipes must be stingers with separate silencers. Not all street Wirges chambers have that internal baffle mess in the first place, and I doubt if any of the stingers do. I'm not crazy about the performance of the Wirges design, but they could certainly work OK, at least for the near term.

Wouldn't they be at least as good as stock pipes if not a little better?

That was about my experience when I ran them. Mine were made without the internal baffle junk. From what I understand of the ones that have them, they can't be very good because they pretty much eliminate the effect of the baffle cone.

On an H1 they are no better and require no jetting change. Can't speak for other models.
If the internal baffle is clogged they severely limit higher rpm range.

What brand is the best pipes? Taking into consideration this is no daily commuter and barely legal noise is ok.
