Hi guys. It’s been many years since I posted here. I’m back.
Been chasing a spark fault for a while now (electrical isn’t my forte)
Been testing and mucking around but never tested the regulator unit as I thought
It was totally seperate from the Mag CDI system. And I have no battery problem.
Anyway, decided to test it today as I’m running out of ideas. Removed it and tested as per
workshop manual (ohms resistance) and it’s buggered (open)
Could that be the problem? I hope so :)
Thanks Steve.

It could be, depending on when you're getting the misfire. There are some odd interactions between the charging coils and the two magneto coils, and a bad regulator can cause misfiring, usually at high RPM.

It's good to see you here, Coops.

Thanks Jim. Yes it’s only at higher rpm.
Better replace it and see. Any recommendations on where
to get one? Not bothered what it looks like.
And I think I remove the square diode thingy underneath?
Cheers.

I don't have a recommendation, but you can see what Oregon Motorcycle Parts has. Also, I think Rick's Motorsport Electrics has one.
