Hi everybody,

I'm doing a seal change on my 1972 H2 oil pump. After watching the videos on the resource site, and comparing this pump to my H1D, it looks like this is not the correct pump for an H2. This pump has an end unit that matches my H1D but is not part of the H2 example pump on the video. So... do I have an H2 pump here and if not, is it OK to run?

As always thanks for your feedback!

What is the designation on the cable wheel, H2, H2-1?????

Also, what compression depth in the end cavity? This is outlined in a service bulletin, on the Resources site, called an "FDM" (Factory Directed Modification).

Thanks for the reply!!!
The cable wheel is stamped H2-3
I'll check out the SB per your recommendations.

H2-3, 4th version, 3rd update from original. From memory, those are set to lean out the output, as earlier versions virtually drowned the engines in oil.

Case in point, Hurley rode a bike in a 6 hour endurance race in Australia one year, and to keep from wasting time filling the oil tank in pit stops, I fitted an S1 (250 triple) oil pump, with H2 cable wheel. Bike never knew the difference, went the whole 6 hours on one tank of oil. We also won the race.

You also need to look into the individual oil line release pressures for the check valves. Info also on the Resources site.

Really excellent feedback and I sincerely appreciate it.
I have to admit the oil pump had me intimidated but after getting into it and following the instructional videos and information on the resource site, it all seems pretty straightforward. Now that I've completed the seal change on my H2 I plan to do the pump on my H1D before riding season starts. I have the check valves sorted but thanks for that advice also. I'm now looking at my Carbs which are stamped H2 but there is a 4 under the H2 stamp. Trying to figure out what that means.
