ATF-FORD TYPE "F" ONLY WAS USED.

Drag racing only for better clutch disk grab at near zero slipping.
Using non F type is completely wrong for anything.

This was used back in the day. It will destroy gears.

As Jim and others said, it ain't your oil.

I stand corrected, it was F type ATF back in the day.

I assembled the clutch pack on the bike this morning, measured the pressure plate movement and I get approx .060. That's with Barrnett springs and the factory plastic release device.

Do any of you know of a really expert person and/or shop that specializes in restoration of these H2s that could maybe fix this issue? I'm lost for solutions.

.060 is right on the money.

Now measure disk to steel clc. with a feeler.

Should be a tight clc. at .005"

Mind you, 7 disks/plates stacked at .002/.005" will have viscous drag which is normal.

Wavy washer/rings in there?

Wave rings are all in place.

A .005 feeler goes easily between the discs in some locations but, can't be inserted at all in other locations because the discs are so strongly glued together by the oil.

Warped plates or fluffy disks.

The steel discs are brand new and I checked them before I installed them but I will recheck them for warpage. The friction discs are brand new EBC that have had only Motul oil on them but I will check them too.

When the plates are new, it's usually a good idea to use some fine sandpaper on them to remove the hair from the surfaces. How many miles are on the new plates? It may be that a few more hard starts will get rid of the hair (fluff).

The new plates have maybe 2 miles on them. The bike was too difficult to shift to ride any further. I will sand them after I check for warpage.

The discs are sanded and installed. While reassembling the engine, I started to re-install the oil pump and I noticed it's drive shaft is somewhat difficult to turn. I don't remember it being hard to turn before. I just got the pump back from a guy that helicoiled the oil inlet and outlet holes. They stripped out due to me having to remove the clutch cover and pump so many times for this clutch issue. Before I finish this installation, would someone try turning an oil pump drive shaft with their fingers to see if it is sort of difficult to turn or does it turn easily.
