Amsoil, Synthetic Dirt Bike Transmission Fluid.

Same as my RD's

I can switch to the Gear oil.

That's SAE80, so I don't see how that would cause gear whine.

Jim,

Do you have a suggested parts list so that I can order replacements prior to taking apart.
Based on the picture numbers.

I have gone through a couple of hundred two stroke transmissions that were run on ATF, and low viscosity lubes such as engine oils. LOTS of ball bearing breakage on transmissions, worn out gear teeth, engagement dogs rounded off, clutch issues, more than I care to remember. ATF IS NOT a lubrincant, it is a hydraulic pressure fluid, mainly for servos, clutches, other pressured fluid engagement devices.

NOT ONE FAILURE, OVER THE LAST 50 OR SO YEARS, NOT EVEN IN ALL THE RACE TWO STROKES, WITH 85W-90 GEAR OILS.....N O T O N E NO noises, NO clutch problems on the wet clutch units, no whines, squeals, clicks, bangs, whoops, nada, nyet, nope..

It's too early to try to decide what parts you need, since you don't yet know what is causing the noise.

Easiest thing to do now is just try some gear oil.
Not expecting a miracle cure

The bike came to me shipped, without oil or gas.
So I put in what I was using for the RD's.

Only rode it around the block, and did not open it up to full revs

$15 or so to get some gear oil.
75W-90 more common

Did not want to take the thing apart, and then wait a week or so to get the parts.

Figured I could just order the most common wear items and replace when apart.

To replace the right crankshaft bearing or the transmission input shaft bearing, you'll need to take the case halves apart, essentially disassembling the whole thing. The first step is to find out what's causing the noise.

I was afraid you were going to say that.

I can take case off this weekend.
But tell the truth, I may not know what I am looking for.
Other that moving stuff side to side.

Jim,
How about a vacation in Florida, south of Tampa.
My dime

Sounds like a formula 1 gearbox.

I like it.

What's the problem?
