One of the chain adjusters on my H1 is rusty. Well, they are both rusty but one has more rust. I have three of these spare adjusters (pictured) however I think they are for early H2's as this won't quite fit on the swingarm.

Looking on E-bay, the main body of the adjuster is available the round part with the threaded bolt. That plate that goes on the end of the swingarm is pretty rare and expensive.

Here's what I'm thinking of:
- Paint the rusty chain adjuster and put it on the right side of the bike where it's hard to see, covered by the expansion chambers.
- Grind the swingarm end to get the slightly beefier H2 chain adjuster to fit.
- I wonder if the more standard looking adjusters will fit - anybody tried using them?

In addition, I have a custom swingarm that I can install but it might take extra work with spacing, maybe needing a longer chain etc. The H1 swingarm works well for me with Koni shocks.

Any suggestions?

I agree. Buy it at your local auto parts store. It will come in handy on other parts also.

Evaporust will clean it but in Hawaii's climate it will be rusty again in a couple of weeks. I guess nobody is recommending adapting an H2 chain puller to fit the swingarm?

In that case I will sand and paint it black.

Thanks, Mike

To prevent rust I have been having good luck with this product.
https://learchem.com/products/acf-50.html
There are several products like this but I like the ACF-50 best so far.
I brush it on just about everything I can’t or won’t wax, including vinyl and black plastics, and then wait a day and wipe it down. It does “dry” to some extent the longer it sits, and if I’m storing the bike I just leave it on, no wipe down. It can collect dust but it’s not bad in my opinion.
I also am setting up a cheap air brush to try to spray it on in a controlled fashion.

Not so sure how it will do in Hawaii.
