Well finally got out for a second ride on the H1 after a few oil pump tweaks. Ike was a little hard to start but once going it ran and idled fine. However once warmed up and a few KM,a on it it always wanted to stall when slowing down and stopped at lights.
Managed to keep it going and then I didn’t. Tried to restart it and no luck. Kicked till I was kicked out.
Left it for some time and went back at it and managed to get it going. Back at the garage just as I was piling in and shifted down to neutral it died. Could not get it going. Pulled the plugs and had an assortment of colours on the plug. All quite different.
Mint this have something to do with the Stalin hand rough running when I try to open it up. Just hesitates ever so slightly and feels like it’s missing. I set the final timing with a strobe and it is spot on.
Any comments/advice where to begin most appreciated.
G

Well, the center and left are obviously running very rich. I'd start by looking for causes like leaking float valves or high float levels.

Thanks Jim. I did make a point of checking the three floats to see if the leaked during the build. They are original. Submerged them and all were not showing signs of any leaks. The levels were all
Set with a calliper and double checked no gasket….. I can check these again easily. Brass is all Mikuni as well. Carbs apart to start…

I've had float needles get small but visible wear rings, and sometimes they seal and sometimes they don't. The last time my H2 was very boggy and rich, that was the problem.

Recheck carb sync.
http://kawatriple.com/manuals/carbtune/carbtune.htm
Check air filters.
Run it to redline numerous times.

Thanks Jim. Will pull the carbs and check all the brass. Is there a reliable source for Mikuni brass for the H1?
Run it to red line? :shifty: :shifty:

There are a few good suppliers of Mikuni jets. I like John Lutz (Mid Atlantic Cycles, scootertrash196@yahoo.com)

Well I ordered up a new set of Mukuni carb brass for the H1.
Thought I’d get a head start and disassemble the carbs for the new parts.
Got all the carbs off and apart. When I was cleaning up the cables and putting things aside I noticed something not quite right with one of the choke plungers.
How in the hell did I miss this when putting it all together????
The plungers were part of a Keystone kit, or was it Keystone Cops. . I only used them and the gaskets.
And the worst plug was the one with the missing rubber seat.
I am pretty meticulous with this sort of thing. Even when I pulled it out this time around I didn’t notice right away.
Stuff from Mid Atlantic wil be up here in a few days. Should
Be interesting to see the difference with the new brass. I am going to use the original plungers I have. Polished them up and they look as good as new. Seats have hardened a bit but I think they will do the job.
Thanks to all for the input and trouble shooting.
Will give an update wheN the bike is up and running.

Yes, that could account for one of the cruddy spark plugs alright.
