I have a 1973 H1D Burnt Green. My Paint is shinny overall, but I have some chips. Is there any touch up paint that is close in color to my burnt green? I realize the factory paint is multiple layers. I am looking for something close if I can get exact.

Thanks

I restored the '74 E model with WA9539 from Spraymax A GM med. green met color.

R+E paint $21.95 for 11ozs.

Tank is original

R&E looks like a neat place to know about. I looked at their WA9539. It looks like the $21.95 is for one can of R&E's house brand of of color coat, but the $38 kit comes with a can of Spraymax clear. Did you use that as well?

I do not know if I got the kit or separately, but beware,,,,,

I did a clearcoat on the 73 "Altered Image" hot bike with some other clear coat and was ruined with gas and yellowed. NOT SPRAYMAX.

cliff

ps.
the '74 green was ..SPRAYMAX
the base was primed, then sat for 2 weeks.
then medium coat base, another 2 weeks
then final multiple light coats 3 weeks again!
final decals 2 day set
first clear was light tack/dry/check for compatibility
second coat smooth med. coat 2 week dry
final coat glass finish with multiple med. coats

no need to take so long between most of these coats, but just the way I had time to do it-dry enviro warm

Oh, I'm well aware of the difference between Spraymax 2K and other stuff!

Thanks,

I ordered small touch up kit, primer, base, clear with little brushes. I'll reply once I get it and state how close it matches when I cover up the chips on my tail piece mainly. Everything else painted is original and respectable.

It is way too dark and I made thing worse. I may try to find "Flair Silver Perl" and "Candy Lime" aresols so I can redo my tail. No luck so far. Overall my tank is nice and side cover good. The tail had several chips but the GM green is many shades darker.

Faded, i thought that too. I look inside where seat was covering things and all my other painted parts, I really see little fade on my, If I do have fading it is every where and evenly which is not typical in my experience. I am sure i must have some.

Well, as promissed I would reply. But my advice that GM Green is much too dark vs Kawi OEM to be used as touch up for what that is worth.

I can say that I spent much time looking for this match and no luck. I did recently fid someone who claims to know... his Facebook said the green was same for the burnt Lime vs the unburnt version and I am getting some of his green to try. I also believe I located "Flair Silver" which Kawi claims created the burnt look when the candy green is applied on top, etc

If better match as chip touch up I'll reply... either way.

Thanks

Give it time to color when drying/curing before the 2K.

Fresh paint is always dark.
