They were not Chrome from new, polished alloy always looks better IMO. Points off for chrome on a "proper" restoration! Your bike tho. I am of the "paint it black and put it back" school, myself.

As I’m progressing with my restoration, I just completed vapor blasting the engine. I’m deciding what to do with the engine covers. I know that I will be polishing them but I was wondering if anyone has ever chromed the side covers. Input would be appreciated. |

Aluminum engine covers do not chrome plate well. Steel side covers on the chassis do, though. You mentioned "side covers", I took it to mean the steel side covers on the chassis. |

I was referring the the engine covers. After thinking about it, I agree with H2RTuner. I think the chrome may be too much bling for a classic bike. |
