As I’m progressing with my restoration, I just completed vapor blasting the engine. I’m deciding what to do with the engine covers. I know that I will be polishing them but I was wondering if anyone has ever chromed the side covers. Input would be appreciated.

They were not Chrome from new, polished alloy always looks better IMO. Points off for chrome on a "proper" restoration! Your bike tho. I am of the "paint it black and put it back" school, myself. :)

Aluminum engine covers do not chrome plate well. Steel side covers on the chassis do, though. You mentioned "side covers", I took it to mean the steel side covers on the chassis.

I was referring the the engine covers. After thinking about it, I agree with H2RTuner. I think the chrome may be too much bling for a classic bike.
