Plasti gage ?

No we are in microns here on a C3 clearance bearing.

5 to 3 microns (do the math) on crush.

Even the plasti gage will influence the reading.

We are in to expert stuff here mind you.

The loctite 620 makes up for the poor crush-evenly, not like a drop of 271 on a spot!

Look at the .0002" max crush, at 5 microns. Look at the C3 ball to race clearance.

So we are making all these measurements at 23 degrees Celsius, right........!?

I have never assembled a horizontally split case two stroke with Loctite on the bearing surfaces, and from what I have seen, I don't think Kawasaki did at the factory either. Seems to me it will force the cases apart a small amount, some of the bearing retainer Loctites, such as 620, create huge expansion forces. Each to his own I guess.

Check the crush on the main bores. Old used cases move around.
620 assures some locking action without shimming like 271 threadlocker.

The C3 bearings are made for moderate interference fit and off axis bores.

ps
C3 internal clc. is 60-90uM .0024/.0035"!

I'm just making sure that the cases are OK. Plastigage will do that for me.

In all the decades I have worked on Kawasaki engines, horizontal, or vertical split, I have NEVER seen any sort of locking liquid added to any main bearing.

H1R and H2R main bearings had special teflon rings inserted into grooves on the outer races, but, still, never any locking liquid.

The manual I am using says to use a drop of Kawasaki Super Lock to keep the bearings from walking. I never thought twice about it. On the Yamaha RD, there is a pip on the bearing to keep it from rotating, so never thought twice about using a drop of locktite.

What am I missing?

Gene, was that a Kawasaki factory generated manual, or an after market one, like a Clymer's????

I've seen some very dubious info in the non-factory generated manuals.
