Hi Friends and Mentors,
Please give me your thoughts. The 3 following pics and descriptions will get you to my questions...... Thanks in advance!

Here's a pic of my right chamber that broke in half right before the stinger because it was foolishly hard mounted.
So, I've decided I better rubber mount the pipes, and I have a couple of questions. I was thinking of using these and it would involve a lot of additional frame bracket fabrication and welding.

Then I came across John Ayers' genius simple rubber grommet mounting system. I can modify it to fit my application and it will be a heck of a lot easier than the method the rubber with double studs I was thinking of using.

1) Thoughts about either method? Grommet vs bushing?
2) Does anyone in SoCal still make custom chambers?
3) Any thoughts about rubber mounting the H1 engine or is that a waste of time?

They have to be able to flop around some. Moo's idea works fine.

Stay in it when it comes on the pipe, no need to be scared...

H1's were rubber mounted from 74 on. Makes a huge difference in riding comfort. Find some late cases, you will love it. And with chambers, if they don't flop, they WILL drop.....

Do you mean the engine was rubber mounted after 74 or just the exhaust?

This is how I did mine with drilled and threaded bushings, grommets, stepped bolts and washers. Everything seats tight without loading up the rubber due to stepped bolts and the design is captive. My metal bushing is a press fit into the frame but you could bond it in.

All of the engine mounts were rubber mounted, as the cases had extra material/thickness at the bosses which allowed the enlargement of the mtg holes to approx 25mm (1") ID to accept the rubber mounts.

Options today for the rubber mounts are finding obsolete parts, or there's an outfit in Germany (sometimes on eBay) that sells reproductions of the factory mounts, and then there are Suzuki mounts that are similar but that you will have to fabricate steel tube extensions to compensate for the difference in length between these and the Kaw mounts.
