I do restorations as a hobby. I do it all from engine work to upholstery to welding/bodywork and yes painting. I've painted several old Porsches in solid, metalic, and basecoat clearcoats. Before I tackle a new project I try to learn as much about it as I can.
Now for Kawasaki Candy Colours. I'm looking for some videos on the process and I'm looking for a source for the paints. With the new. VOC rules, the new paints aren't quite the same as the old ones.
Also, if it were a "close enough" option, if I could find a good basecoat/clearcoat colour that matches 75 Candy Sly Blue I think I would give that a try first. That's the great thing about painting a bike vs a car. It's 4 just parts and if you don't like it, it is so much easier to redo.
The other thing I've noticed while looking at photos online, there are several beautiful H1's in the "Candy Sky Blue?" But they all seem to be a bit different hue. I don't know if it's the tint or the lighting. Can't tell if they are Candy or not in the photos. I've never seen one in person.

You may be able to get some info here: http://kawatriple.com/
Look at "Paint Info".
The H1F blue paint faded a lot with sunlight and caused it to take on a green tint. That may be what you see in some photos.
The color of the base coat has a lot to do with results as well as number of finish coats applied.

That is a great resource and I missed the process part in the paint section, thanks.
Finding the right colour is still going to be difficult. It apears that even with the right tint in the candy coat, thicker or thinner coats will effect the colour in the end. All part of the challenge. :D
When this lockdown ends, I might head down to my local automotive paint store and see if they have some old paint sample books.
