Right, it those are Denco chambers, they've been modified, and that could explain the bad fit with the fender.

I don't ever remember seeing that type of flange setup. All the ones I have worked with have the flange with inner and outer tube, and the primary tube slips in between them.

I have seen other bikes with this type of flange, and it never impressed me.

them DENCO'S. they were spot welded in place ,then welded, used them for a long time no problems, but why would the stock header down pipes have the same gap?

The H2B and C does have a steeper steering head angle, rake, maybe Denco didn't change anything from the H2A and it's closer.

thats a good thought, so you think DENCO made H2 A down pipes different than H2 B C ?

No, Denco H2 chambers were all the same. They were mounted a little differently at the rear on later H2s, but the chambers were not different.

I have a '75 H2 with Lomas pipes. Clearance is about 2.5 inches.

Another way to increase clearance is push the fork tubes down in the clamps, raising the bike a bit. However that's not great for handling.

yea it has to be in the steering head its self, mass produced in the jig they all must vary, man its close I guess I might have to live with it, I see in stock H2s much more clearance.

The steering head isn't going to vary, unless someone whacked it post-production!!
