I was wrong (again, lol): I found the float pin on the floor about 6' from the bike. It must have slid out and bounced off stuff or something so the float was constrained.

What I did find however, was the sealant used to replace the gasket had gaps in it so I'm hoping that gas was bouncing around and out of the float bowl due to that. I'll find out soon.
