I suggest using the really high-heat header type paint on the head pipes and whatever you like on the rest. In over 40 years I haven't found anything that's semi-gloss that holds up on the head pipes.

My current headpipe favorite is VHT Flameproof, but any of the matte header/BBQ grill paints work fine.

I can't explain that. I've had it on head pipes for years now. It is flat black from the start. It does require some strange curing procedures though.

Paint the head pipes with VHT, then put 'em in a covered BBQ for an hour. They're cured.

They need to get hot, stay hot for 30 mins. to an hour, then cool down slowly. You won't do that with a heat gun.

I used Rustoleum semi gloss BBQ paint. It has held up well on my RZ.
