Hello all.
I have a '74 H1 with stock exhaust. My issue is that I have an exhaust rattle on my #1 pipe. If I take the baffles out, the rattle goes away. If I swap baffles, the rattle stays on the #1 pipe. I am assuming that the baffle is rattling in the pipe way inside (away from the locking screw at the end).

Does anyone know of a way to fix this? Other than running without baffles? :D

Baffle plates are prone to come loose from inside the exhausts, maybe one is starting to come loose and is only being noticed when the baffle is in ?

Yes, the welds break loose. Not much you can do about it.

One thing is conform it is a loose separator plate. Pull the baffle, use a bent piece of fairly strong metal rod, bent 90 degrees at one end, insert into the muffler, use flashlight to watch as you use the rod to try to move the plates.

Fixing one is a small wonder of a job, some get the plate back in place, then drill a hole through the muffler on the place not seen, and insert a couple, to three self tapping metal screws. Another way is to get the plate into place, then drill a few holes on the unseen part of the muffler, then MIG weld them, bonding the plate to the inside of the muffler.

If you do get the plate back into place, gently insert the baffle to make sure the plate is square in the muffler, before trying to attach the plate, so the baffle will insert/remove easy.

Yeah, I know, what a PITA this is.
