I spent almost an hour sanding and cleaning this little part to find out it might not be the right part?!
But it was on the handlebars with the rest of the stuff ... taken from an 1972 S2

The inside dimension is about 2mm shy of accepting a handle. The handle is same as the other side (thickness wise), so thats ok, I think.
what kind of witchery is going on here?

Looking at the parts diagram, this piece is not from a 1972 S2.

That begs the question, anyone recognize this part?

The S2 brake bracket doesn't have a mirror boss
It could be off and drum brake dirt or road bike
But it's not S2
See triple resources, link below

I've had aftermarket levers that were too fat for the slot - put them in fat camp with a coarse file.. problem solved

Thanks for the link Scouse.
It kinda looks like it could be from an S3....

Now knowing it's [probably] from an S3, I might get one of those handles. Or I might decide to be 'proper' and get the actual piece w/out the mirror fitting. I'll linger on ebay for a little while..
But if that fails, I have Zambia's fat camp trick!!

Thanks again!!
