Hello everyone, I was wondering if it is normal that the first start of the kawa 750 H2 requires 6/7 kicks, while when the engine is hot, just one weak kick is enough. The choke plungers open and close well; the setting of the carburetors is like in the manual, the air filter is clean. Any advice? Greetings

You do know that choke only works if throttle is not turned?

Yes, when using the starter I never turn the throttle knob. With the plungers removed, I can see that they rise and fall regularly and together.

No, it's not normal to take that many kicks when cold, unless it's very cold. Normally mine starts with a couple kicks when cold, cold being around 70F. When I used to ride my H2 to the U of MD, winters could cause more kicks to be needed. I remember when it was 15F and the bike was out in that temperature overnight, it could take ten kicks to get it running.

Turning the petcock to "prime" for a few seconds before starting can help, especially if it hasn't run for a few days and the fuel level in the carbs is down.

Hi Jim, I'm not talking about starting when it's cold outside, even in this season with 25/30C° it always takes a lot of kicks; yet I changed the low voltage coil (bought from you) that maybe had problems, but the first starting is always difficult. Help!! :?:

I have the same issue exactly and I am convinced it comes down to fuel - as has been suggested, try turning petcock to prime to make sure the bowls are full - also might be worth checking fuel height in the carbs.

I have a Pingel petcock which is shut off after each ride and I believe a fair fit of fuel evaporates - I also run a lower fuel height because I am plagued with 4 stroking at low throttle openings - but I do believe your issue is fuel related.

Timing, oil pump, setting making mixture incorrect, and especially float level too low in the carbs, it, too high,,a,d carb balance

I use to open the tap in the PRI position to fill the trays and it actually drops fuel in quantity; I deliberately kept the floating level low so as not to enrich the mixture. The pilot jet is 35 points, could you help increase it to 40?

If your carbs overfill and leak when the petcock is in the "prime" position, you need to correct the leaking float valves.
