| Post subject: | Steering Alignment |
Just wondering if something is bent or if there is a way of adjusting the alignment of the handle bars to the tracking of the front wheel on my H2. Currently, to ride straight, the handle bars are turned slightly to the left. If I hold the bars straight with the bike on the center stand, the front wheel is tracking to the right. Thoughts on this?.... |

Fork tube alignment in the triple clamps, look across both tubes side to side, see if they are equal. Also, bar mounts could be off a touch, loosen one side of the handlebar holder, on both the bar bolts, align the bars, tighten the bolts. Do the tubes first. |

stick the tire between your legs and pull. Yes they will move out of alignment that easy. |

One of my bikes has that same issue. I "fix" it by loosening the lower clamp bolts, turning the bars the appropriate direction to get the wheel and bars lined up then tighten up the lower clamp bolts. It lasts for months and then drifts back off again. Might be a bent lower triple clamp. |

OK, now that you have it straight, put the bike on the center stand, or block it up straight, and look from one side of the forks, to the other side, from that one side. Look at the tubes, the way they align with each other are they aligned, or is one misaligned from the other? If misaligned, loosen the lower triple clamp and align the tubes, tighten the clamp, recheck. THEN, with the wheel centered ahead, look at the handlebar alignment. IF it is not straight, loosen one side of the clamp, align the bar, tighten the clamp. When I say to align the tubes on the forks, I am referring to the chrome tubes, NOT the sliders, and if you were to put a piece of glass, or straight metal on both tubes, they should both be flush. There needs to be a video reference to doing this check/operation, so everybody can check and reset if needed. |

That is ancient old skool big time, but, it seems to work well to get stuff aligned. |
