I am confused. There are 6 roller bearing on the H1 crankshaft and three different part #s: 3 of one kind, 2 of another kind and 1 of a third kind. OK let me try to figure out the kind (part#) and quantities of each kind to order fro Kawasaki?

Which diagram if either is correct

#1 https://www.pjme.co.uk/acatalog/Kawasak ... Parts.html

#2 http://www.kawatriple.com/partsmanuals/ ... 1d_e_f.PDF ( same as Partzilla)

Both #1 and #2 show one item 27. But #2 says two are needed: Part# 601B6305 #1 never says quantity. Is one or two needed? where is the second one?

#1 shows item 23 once (601B6305) but #2 shows item #23 twice but as (92045-020) for same matching location. #1 shows item 24 as (92045020) and #2 shows it as the second #23 (920450-20). Who is correct?

#1 and #2 both show item 9 three times as (601B6205). Must be correct!

Concerns

Really only one item 27?

Who is correct #1 showing or #2 or neither? about item 23 and 24 (shown on #1 only) and their proper parts #s. I can get all bearings from Kawasaki accept 920450-20, just not sure if one or two is needed and what position it is.

I am sure what I wrote is confusing. It's late and I am confused!

I believe they are all ball bearings. Not that this answers your question though.

The difference between 6305 & 6305N is that the 6305N has a groove cut in the OD.
That groove mates with the two locating rings (#7 in crankcase drawing).
That means there should be two 6305N used.
The UK site only shows one grooved bearing used... that is wrong (unless you only use one locating ring).
So bottom line... Kaw drawing & parts list is correct.

EDIT: Even though the diagrams show two rings w/ two 6305N bearings there is actually only one of each as Tuner has noted below.
So the UK site is correct!

The ONLY full roller main H1 cranks were for the H1R engines (YES, those H1R cranks used the sides of the outer rollers to control end thrust side to side in the cases), street engines had all ball bearings. H2, all were ball, even the H2R, and all had only one aligner.

There is only one half circle locator on any Kawasaki triple case used to locate the crank, not two half circle aligners. Usually, the align circle is a bit wider than a regular grooved ball bearing, ours take a specially groved bearing to fit the aligner width.

I'm not trying to be a smart alec but I would send the crank to Charlie and it will be a lot easier and it will run like a turbine.

And, there is only one item #27 not two as Kawasaki Parts manual and Partzilla shows?

When I don't use OEM parts, things typically don't worked out well for me. Sure, maybe something even better/more modern than OEM out there, I wouldn't know. I don't think I would ever go wrong using proven OEM. Gives my mind something to do also :banghead

For example due to moisture I needed two con rods. I bought three NOS Kawasaki ROD kits. There is MACO (Charlie offers), Sudco, CruzinImage, Long, Kiwami and maybe others. I waited, made some offers. Yup I paid a little more than MACO, but notably less than I could buy Sudco for example, so why not OEM?

Does Charlie accept new OEM replacement parts from customers when he does cranks? Question for Charlie. He does seem to be the expert at these cranks. A guy selling a bike on ebay like mine proudly lists Charlie also. I have had a good experience with two other crank rebuilder's for oher bikes though but, Charlie does come very well recommended.

Thanks for answering my anal questions. very helpful to me

I don't want to speak for Charlie, but he used the crank seals I sent with my crank, and when he told me it needed rod kits he offered to supply them or have me send some to him. As far as I can tell, he's happy to use any customer supplied parts.

There is only one set ring used on these triple engines to locate the crankshaft in the cases, not one in the top, one in the bottom case.

The H1R with roller mains were the only triple cases that used a set ring on each end of the cases, between each outer roller main bearing and seal, to hold the outer bearings in place, to control the side thrust.

I am happy to use whatever parts the customer supplies. I even provide a discount beings my rebuild costs are all inclusive except the rods.

I only supply Koyo brand bearings. Simply put, they are the best. My supplier is Dave Conforti at Worldwide Bearings. Former racer and truly an expert when it comes to bearings. From left to right the bearings on the H1 are as follows: 6205, 6205, 6205, 6305NR, 6305 and finally 6305. For the H2 crankshaft the numbers are identical if you substitute a number six for the number five. The bearing with NR at the end of the identifier is the bearing with the locating ring. That is the only difference. Bearings with locating grooves can be use throughout on the crankshaft. It doesn’t matter. Only the one will except the half moon locating ring to fit the case.

Feel free to give me a call to discuss or clarify anything. Even if you choose another crank builder I am available to answer any questions you may have.

That post above just shows how much of a class-act Charlie is!

He's done the crank in both my H1 & H2, and I will be sending him another later this year.
