I'm pretty sure that this question is a first. The carbs Kawasaki used had bodies that oxidized quickly turning a very dull gray color. The slide bores do the same thing. After cleaning carbs using a standard cleaner I reassemble and all is well. A week or so later the slides stick in the bores and the throttle becomes inoperative. I'm thinking that polishing up the carb slide bore with a 2000 grit Emory cloth might be the solution by might also be a mistake. Is there a chemical I can use? Would vapor blasting solve the problem and clean the outsides also? Would a gift of Pixie dust from H2rtuner be the magic solution? Probably a dumb question but I'm as stuck as anyone with any engine problem.

Clean them with lacquer thinner and they will be fine.

when you put the slide back in a bit wd40 on them helps with initial lubrication and dispels any residue

The slides should not stick in the bores for a very long time (like years?). Sounds like something is distorted? I don't see why polishing the bores would be a problem..I've done it.

The carb bodies are made out of a soft pot metal and if you grab below the slide nut with a water pump pliers or other grabby thing you can actually distort the slide bore enough so they wont slide. Were you rough on disassembly? Ask me how I know cause I ruined one this way. It did not take much pressure to distort it either.
