Hi I haven`t been on here for years but have had some great help in the past, so I`m hoping someone can help. My H1e has had it`s problems over the years but I have become pretty good at diagnosing it and have had it running awesome for years, the slightest change will have an effect.
Unfortunately I had a left big end bearing seizure a year ago and did a full strip, had the crank rebuilt and did everything else myself, was running great, but I had been using 95 mains since installing Higgspeed chambers. Without touching the carbs when reassembled it would not run the 95s and I eventually returned to the 92.5s and tuned it great. Then due to my not tightening the magneto cover properly the whole assembly came loose and the rotor damaged the brushes and pickups. I replaced the brushes and filed the ends of the pickups and it ran good but I never got it %100 again. Now it just will not run properly at all. I have checked the timing settings numerous times and had the carbs off maybe 50 times trying every conceivable adjustment. I don`t believe its got anything to do with carbs. The pickups have a pretty damn good square edge, the rotor is normal to look at, it charges and runs lights. Plugs are new. battery new. Just about given up. Nothing makes it run properly. It will start ok but I know when running properly the slightest tweak on the idle screw will make that cylinder respond, but now it barely gives a response up or down. I have a new rotor arm coming but the pickups are just ridiculous in any decent condition, and I can`t see why mine are not good enough with the right edge square? By moving the timing advanced I can make it run worse but never better. When on the road it runs sort of Ok to about 3-4 thousand, then just terrible.
Any ideas, I`m used to love this bike, now I`m just over it. Steve.

Bad coil or plug wire? Are you sure the wiring you touched is good? Best of luck, keep plugging away and you're sure to find something.

It could be the crank seals are leaking , the symptom of touchy mixture settings is something I have encountered I ended up getting the crank rebuilt, all my problems disappeared , it was the centre seals 8-)
Also if the carbs have not had the needle jets and the jet needles changed for genuine Mikuni components , these are mid range fuel metering components

I use a guy called Steve Doran send him an E mail on the web As Motocarb
