How did you plug the hole? I have a plastic plug jammed in my H2 but I've never been thrilled about it.

JB weld actually, but the cases were apart.

Since it seems to be contacting the plastic part of the switch, I don't see how the cover will help my situation. Sorry for the lack of details. Fitting new VM34 to 74H2. I think the switch is going to go but want to try removing the gasket first to see if there is room. Not really worried about not having a green light! JB putty sounds good to me.

Ja-Moo sells intake manifolds that angle the carbs away from the crankcase.

I’m running vm34s on stock manifolds. What I did was angle cut the plastic on the carb side and then angle cut the nut on the bowl. Not too much is required, you’ll have the gauge it out. In order to install the carb, tip it sideways with the bowl facing the left side cylinder, push it on, then twist the carb into position. Removal is reverse. 8-)

Ok thanks! I'll work on it this week. I got to nip the little probe off the bottom bowl first. Then I can try and sand it down.

Well I started working the carb from the right side instead of the left. After twisting it a bit, it fits! No mods required. I just had to make sure it was well seated into the manifold. Thanks for all the help.

I got my TM34's on and off (many times while jetting) with no modifications at all.

You know the short cuts never get fixed eh! I ran into the same issue and ended up siliconing a little piece of gasket material down to the oval for a temporary fix... it's been there for 8 years now!

Andrew, my father used to say "Nothing is so permanent as a temporary arrangement."

Surprisingly the right carb was now causing all the trouble. Had to sand the bowl overflow tube off as it was hitting the case. Used the lathe and shaved the float bowl drain down too. Its now on there.
