Having a heck of a time getting the old copper sealing gasket out of the exhaust flange. They are new but one is leaking a bit so I wanted to replace all 3 as have the chambers off. Tried Hook Tools and small screw driver but no luck. I don't want to hammer it and damage the race. Would Liquid Wrench help? |

Chris you don’t need the copper gasket if running chambers, just put a bead of hi temp silcone on the spigot end and install, then reach in with your finger and smooth out the material between the spigot and cylinder, I let it cure overnight and use whats called the “The Right Stuff” gasket maker but that’s probably not available in Canada.. Its only a copper gasket you should be able to work it out, stay at it.. |

This is weird, never had a problem like this...... I say keep working it - somehow you'll get it out. I have dencos and don't use them. Some dealer and I use the robber own seals on the OUTSIDE to stop the spooge. |

I use fairly long flat blade screwdriver. I work the blade of the screwdriver under the edge of the gasket, across the port, then twist the screwdriver to lift the one side out of the register the gasket sits in. It usually isn't a hard operation, and it shouldn't damage anything. |

When compressed the copper gasket will grow in its diameter, so it’s probably pressing outward holding itself to the outer diameter of the exhaust port, I would work from the outer edge of the gasket in trying to deform the gasket, then it will release, that way you won’t damage or scratch the exhaust port seeing you can’t gain any headway from the other side.. |

All good ideas. Since they are new, I'm going to try sealing with silicone and re-install over the existing. I'll give that a try and check for leaks. If still leaking then remove and replace. |

I haven't used gaskets for many years. I put a little silicone sealer on the chamber adapter and bolt it in. It doesn't even need to be high temperature silicone, the cheap clear stuff works fine. |
