I made that same repair with my case. It is very easy to do. One thing I thought of after making the repair was using an auto body stinger and using the stud to tug the pin out of the hole. I have never tried it but I would probably give it a shot if that should happen again. Actually I would probably pull an old case out and duplicate the issue just in case it might damage the case. That way I would not be practicing on a good engine.

Being one of those people that really enjoys doing things like make my own specialty tools, and do machine work, I've done this repair a bit differently.

I push the pin all the way out of the hole, then thread the hole and spot face the outer end of it to give me a flat surface to seat a screw head to.

I then dress the threaded end of a grade 8 button head Allen screw to match the pin diameter, and overall length needed. Last step is to apply Three-Bond 1194 to the screw, insert and torque.

Now, I like going the longer distance in this sort of thing, I really enjoy figuring it a out, and I have the machine tools to do so. Most people don't have a that, and it is no problem.

The way Evans explained it works just fine, I have done it that way as well, never had a problem.
