I have no spark on my 1972 H2. Battery is good (lights work) and I was attempting to replace my coils with the black repro set I bought from Jess. I have put back on the original ones that were working before. I'm afraid I may have mixed up the 3 red wires to coils from harness as mine have no factory cylinder marking stickers remaining. I also have a momentary kill button wired and installed. I have the 3 black/white ring connector wires grounded at each coil mount on the frame and made sure to grind back the paint there for good connectivity. With each plug to individual cylinder and with key on and kicking, I see no spark on any cylinder. I have a multimeter but will tell you I am a novice on electrical issues so will need some basic guidance there. Can someone provide something me help and assistance? Thanks.

A couple things that might help:

1. The H2's ignition system is separate from the 12v battery system, so the condition of your battery is not related to your spark problem.
2. Mixing up the red wires won't cause you to not have spark, it will just make the sparks happen at the wrong time and the engine won't run.

Because you mentioned a kill switch, try unplugging the black and white wire from the ignition rectifier (smallest of the four boxes) and see if you get spark. Just be aware that if you start the engine with that wire unplugged, you'll have to stop it by doing something like putting it in gear and letting out the clutch. Also, there is high voltage on that black and white wire coming from the rectifier box, so don't touch it with the engine spinning.

The iggy doesn't need a battery, it's magneto. I would disconnect the kill switch for now, and the black and white wire also. As you are just checking for spark. Even if the 3 red wires are crossed, you should still get spark. If you have a drill square off the head of a old bolt to fit in a 3/8 socket and turn the motor over with the drill, easier to see spark and you aren't kicking your brains out.

Here are some pics of the wired in kill switch.

Is picture #2 correct on how I removed and hooked it up deleting the kill switch? Pic #3 is the piece removed.

Probably, but I'm mainly seeing a rat's nest. :)

The idea was to simply unplug the black and white wire at the small CDI unit and see if you get spark. That eliminates any possible bad switches and wiring. It's just a brief test, and if you get spark with it unplugged, then you plug things back in and figure out what's wrong.

Unplugged the black/white wire at small CDI unit- no spark with key on.

Sorry about the rats nest- best I can do for right now. :(

The ignition switch and kill switch ground that black and white wire to stop the engine, so once you unplug that wire, the ignition switch has no effect on spark.

So the test showed that there is a problem other than the switches or their wiring. It wouldn't be a waste of time to test the four ignition units using a 12v battery and a 12v test lamp:
