I brought my H2 up to the land speed races at Limestone, ME last weekend (Loring Timing Association) www.loringtiming.com. I had some aero issues with my handlebar fairing (and removed it) but the biggest problems were with the stock clutch: I kept blowing through it. The bike has been pretty heavily ported with VM38's, pipes, etc. and I couldn't get much over 120 mph w/o it slipping pretty badly.

So what is the current recommendation for clutch mods? Advice appreciated!

thanks

With the that kind of racing you may need a lock-up clutch to be sure the clutch is not letting you down.
I suppose rules will dictate what can and can't be used.

Actually, any kind of clutch is allowed. I should have added that I use a radial bearing under the pushrod, HD springs (not sure how many but at least 3), SyTech pusher and Gear Saver lube. I haven't looked at the plates lately but it has been awhile since I've scuffed the steels. Everything works fine until it hits hard... :)

I run a 15 plate conversion that works well but a lockup clutch is the best bet and then you can run light springs . i run one on my turbo bike.

1000s of guys ran 120 mph plus for decades without a lock up. Do the extra plate mods with 5 springs and you should be fine. And I had a few of them "wobble" fairings myself...... ;)

I got the 15 plate conversion 5 heavy springs , I weigh a lot more than anyone here I would guess, and that does matter, 90 RWHP, lots of full throttle runs and never had any clutch slip.
I also present a fairly large wind barrier.
But I also have never gone 120mph on mine yet.

I've gone 127 with this clutch setup (before current engine mods). I couldn't really test on the street where I live as speeds get too fast too quickly. Slip was worse in top two gears (I think).

After reading material in the resource section I'm confused about potential machining with the 15 plate mod. Is it still eight H2 friction plates and seven H1 steel plates with everything else left unchanged?
