I seem to have fuel on the outside of my H2B carbs when the bike has been sitting, and the fuel lines empty out over a day. I thought it had leaking float bowl gaskets so I replaced those, and the bike sits on the sidestand while parked, so thought the fuel level was up to the bowl gasket line and leaked out. The fuel residue is above the float bowl gasket on the body of the carbs. But the new gaskets did nothing to fix this, so I don't understand how the fuel is getting to the outside of the carbs. So the two questions; is it possible to lap or reseat the float needles, I know you guys say the replacement float needles are crap. And how or where is the fuel coming from to get to the outside of the carbs, and above the gasket line? |

You may be thinking of carb rebuild kits having bad parts but in those kits, the float needles, seats, and bowl gaskets are the only parts that are good. Some guys prefer Viton tipped float needles, but my stock type work fine, as long as they don't get a ring worn on them. |

Fuel also gets outside when the floats are set too high and it leaks out the overflow tube and on to the floor. That should not be too much though unless the needle is not seating and the fuel is continuing to run into carb. |

So there are available float needles and seat that are ok, thanks. The overflow tube leads to the nipple on the very bottom of the bowl, if the fuel were going out that I can't see how it could be above the float bowl gasket line, like on the bowl flange on the carb body itself. |

Looks like you can get 3 total kits for 10.00 more than just the valves from the other place, and have a spare set of bowl gaskets, and needle clips. http://www.midatlanticcycle.com/store/i ... cts_id=229 |

Mid atlantic looks like a good supplier, maybe the Viton needles from Parker Yamaha is what I need though, anyone know which size they are, the page lists three sizes to choose from. |
