The H2B has a Mikuni 171-Q6 needle jet, and the needle clip set second from richest stock. My attempts with my bike have been to get more midrange and top end. If it does, I don't think one needle clip position will be enough to richen it to where it needs to be. SO, is it something that is often done, to change the needle jet to the next one, which is a 171-Q8? Wondering if I should buy the set in advance.....

I went the other way, leaner needle jet to get rid of four stroking at 3/8 throttle.

Here's the info Dale prepared (fantastic job): http://3cyl.com/mraxl/partid/carb/jetid/jetid.htm

See my last post on this thread see what I did: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=11141&hilit=needle+jet&start=20

You can use the 169 needle jets and will probably switch to the hex head jets unless you want to try crossthreading the regular round jets into them.

JetsRus have the correct 171 needle jet in the next size, so I don't see any reason to try to adapt or force the wrong one into the carbs. Just buy the Q8 size. For me this is because I have fabricated expansion chambers for the bike, and believe it will increase the midrange more than one needle clip height change.
