 Post subject: squealing brake

whats the best way to fix a squealing front brake on an s3 ? i have had the rotor re surfaced, new pads installed, grinded the leading edge on an angle on the pads ( dirt bike trick ) roughed up the pads....im open for suggestions !

Isnt there a shim or something you put behind the pad?
A brass piece or something sounds familiar.
