with the green from the regulator disconnected put the positive probe onto it , put the neg of the meter to earth, ignition on, I would expect to see a higher voltage than that, something near battery voltage

Here's some gen, read

The wire to the charging warning
Light bulb should be battery voltage.
The light bulb has to work in order to charge.
Then go out and stay out when running .

So tested the green wire, I Unplugged the three wire connection at the reg and got 11.7 Volts. And 3Volts at the green at the brushes. So lost a lot of Volts, where did they go. I con checked it and it's perfect.

So tried another regulator I recently bought. And ran the engine and got 14.7 Volts at the battery at 4000 rpm and no orange light. So must be something wrong with my old reg. Will check again in a few days. Before I crack open a beer.
