Post subject:  H2B carb questions

My H2B carbs have emulsion tube 'shrouds' that are about 6mm tall, protruding into the airstream. I have a spare pair of carbs that I think are H2 or H2A, and the emulsion tube shrouds are really short, like 2mm. Is there a preference there, should I cut my tall ones down?
Jetting questions, I am running expansion chambers, have done port work and smaller squish clearance. The carbs have 100 main jets in them now, what would be a good guess to start out with? Also, raise the needles a notch or two?
Other question would be base ignition timing, standard or less timing? Thanks to all replies.

Modding shrouds is a can of worms you do not want to open. Go up a couple of sizes on the mains, do the idle screw test for the pilot size, and raise the needles a notch to start. Leave the timing stock.

Very early H2 had 2mm choke w/5FL14 needle. Then changed to 8mm w/5EJ15 needle.... I think there is a service bulletin on the change?
Finding the correct pilot jet can be found here:
