Went to start the h1d after the winter, it started right up but the lights are dim, has a fully charged battery but when you hit the kill switch the lights go out only the neutral light stays on. Checked all the connections the only thing I'm not sure of is the rectifier it's the small 2 wire 2"x2" thin wafer type connected to the battery. Put the ohm meter on it and get nothing no reading could this be the problem, if so is there another alternative to buying one or do I have to stay with the stock rectifier. If that's not the problem what do you think it is, it's stock nothing has been altered.

Most likely corrosion on a ground or connection.

Thanks Ja-Moo I'll take a closer look at the connections.

Touch a jumper wire from battery "-" to engine and see if lights come on. If so, battery ground wire is not making connection.
