Post subject:  H2B carb oil lines?

My newly imported H2B is missing some parts, I spent $900 on it over the last few days but I still do not have the carb oil lines. I find them here and there used, which is ok, but OMG, $280 or more! Any way to make some using existing banjos etc? I am guessing they have check balls in them to stop the fuel from back feeding into the oil pump, which makes them tricky to reproduce.

The special part of the lines are the check valves. You can use these at the bottom of the page http://www.kawatriple.com/checkvalves.htm
and mate them with tygon lines and standard banjo fittings.

I found fittings and line I liked. STC valve have these 6mm thread/ 6mm hose push lock banjo fittings that seem to fit well. I ordered another taller one for the rear port missing in the pic. For the check valves I bought 5/32" dia stainless balls and 1/8" by 3/8" long stainless springs and put them in the carb bowls, slip a spring and a ball into each bowl thread and screw the push lock banjo in. I lightly countersunk the ends of the banjo bolts to make a place for the balls to seat against. The hose is flexible Nylon.

What you have done looks good and very creative!
Did you measure the pop-off pressure of your check valve?
It should be 4.0-4.6psi, if too high you may end up with a seizure.

I haven't checked the pressure yet, but for sure will. One question, are the 4 oil pump outlet ports connected or do they feed separate? Wondered this because I would think the crank feed port could get less if the carb ones have low pop pressure.

All four oil pump ports deliver the same pressure and all check valves have the same cracking pressure.

Specifically, each pump port gets its own positive displacement squirt in turn, so that each output is forced to get the same amount of oil, regardless of line length, etc..

(yes, very late to the party)

Thanks Jim. This system has been working good for me, I like how I can pull a carb off and never have to remove the fitting, banjo bolt, you just squeeze the purple lock collar and pull the line out, I slip a rubber 6mm ID rubber cap on the line while the carb is off. Can also service the check valve while working on that carb if needed.

Maybe you should write up an article to give to Dale for the resource site.

I had a request for the lines so I will write a page with part numbers etc shortly.
