It's a bit hard to start, but when it runs it seems to idle nice. The middle cylinder is dead though.

I do have spark on the plug. Gas gets to the carburetor (to the float bowl at least).

Things I have tested so far:

* Switched spark plugs with right cylinder. Plug works.
* Removed spark plug and covered the hole with my thumb and kicked. Thumb didn't fly away exactly but there is some force.

I'm thinking about:

* Clogged carburetor
* Bad coil/wrong wiring
* Bad crank seal

What more could it be?

The next easy test is to swap the center carb with one of the others. It can't be a bad coil if you have spark on that plug.

sounds like a blocked idle jet, clean the carb out, after that it has to be the ignition circuit for that cylinder. blip the choke lever, if it cuts in, it's the carb

two things, try a quick spritz of carb cleaner when it's running to see if the cylinder picks up, and also just pull the center carb cable to see if the cylinder kicks in. Heck check to see if the cable is even connected to the slide.

Thanks much appreciated, will try out everything said.

By the way is there a way to repair or replace the brownish clamp seals on H1 carburetors, in case they are damaged? What are they made of, bakelite?

No replacements that I know of, nor fix. Some use a sealer.

Pulling the throttle wire made it fire on all cylinders. :thumbup:

Looks like it might just be your cable sync then. :thumbup:

It could still be a clogged pilot passage or jet.

Today I disassembled the middle cylinder carburetor and cleaned it with carb cleaner, water and compressed air. Got some dirt out but it didn't cure the problem. Sprayed some starter gas on the inlet and it does run on that. Pulling the throttle wire works but it's hesitant to rev.

Did compression test on all cylinders and got approximately

* Right: 130 psi
* Middle: 150 psi
* Left 150 psi

The throttles are a bit out of sync and I have yet to look into the other carburetors.

I'm not giving up but am bit stumped at the moment. :think:
