I think if you mix, it will be "interesting" handling if nothing else. :wtf:

5yr old tire and a mismatch would be a no go for me.
I have mixed radial and bias ply in the past on one of my bikes, long before I knew better, it was ok, BUT I am not that great of a rider so I dont push it.

I have had bad luck with older tires that look new. When you ride and heat them up they fall apart. In the interest of safety I would suggest a new tire.

It really depends on how the tire was stored. Wrapped in plastic in a dark place is better than out in the sun, for example. Also, out in the country is better than in a big city. Some tires I'm currently running are more than five years old, but have been in my rural garage, and I can't tell they're not new.

Was having a beer or two Friday night and was thinking maybe I was on the wrong track here......

Is there a radial tire option for the front of these bikes? I thought I had an option with the new Avon 100/90-19 AV71to match the rear tire I have but it is bias ply also. If I was able to find a radial for the front are there any issues with mounting these kinds of tires (radials) on these types of rims? Or do I need to abort this plan all together and stay with bias ply tires with these rims?

I believe I read somewhere that it was uber important to have the correct rim widths.

Im not sure what you are looking for, as just plain old bt 45s will lets you drag knees.

I was just trying to make a free tire work for my budget and see if I could get radials on there in the process. I'm over it now and will wait to save a couple of bucks to replace my Bridgestones.
