you definitely don't want to go down to 34mm fork of an S series.....

definitely not doing that

I think the rotor is the only issue, i searched ebay and seems the KZ650 has a 4 bolt rotor , might risk some cash and buy one hoping it is the same pattern as the KH400 with a big disc like the H1

You might cross reference the kh 500, z1 and kz 650 part numbers

Get a Z 650 disc, thinner ,ighter and drilled from the factory, it bolts straight on, just to let you know that the KH 500 hub and the KH 400/250 are the same part number http://www.ebay.com/itm/311596282286

So why wouldn't a complete KH400 or S3 front end work?
Swap the clamps and forks etc all at once, no disc size issues either.

Probably would bolt up but the KH forks are about 1 1/2 inches shorter than H1.

I know that, as my KZ650 tubes stick 1n inch or so above the top clamp.
But wouldn't the loss in front end position be somewhat offset, by having a wheel 1" taller as well????
As far as changing the geometry of the bike.

There it is! The golden nugget of information that will make this (very helpful) mod a lot easier from from this point on!

Thanks Gary!

If the hubs are the same but the axles are different (length, still hung up on the this, the wider KH500/KZ650 forks must use a longer axle???), then both axles will still fit either hub. This is almost plug and play now!

Steve, do you know if the KZ650 lowers can be used with the KH500 tubes?

Did looks like a direct bolt on match since the hubs are the same the one digit off on the rotors is rotor diameter ,

KH500 hub 41034-41
KH400 hub 41034-41
KZ650 rotor 41080-005
KH500 rotor 41080-005
KH400 rotor 41080-006

That probably work too, another path to the same place , I would bug on the tubes sticking up and the other part of my swap is having a rear mount right side caliper, since the EX stock brake hose with Super Bars is a bolt on that looks neat and tidy like from the factory

The fork bottoms are wider on the KH 500, hence the longer axle
If you're using KH 500 forks then a GPZ 900 caliper bolts straight on, there's a bit of pad over hang that needs trimming off, but it's a plug and play
