Looked in the manual, couldnt find the answer [not really].

Anyway, the rear tire is too low when the bike ['74 H1] is on the centerstand, will roll when pushed to go off the centerstand.

Kind of a pain as I have the sidestand off and it's out getting fresh powder.

It has original shocks and 4.00x18 rear tire so it's not mods.

Havent put the bike on the lift to check this yet [CB K6 is on it] but looks like the centerstand is overextending.

Is this common? What's the fix??

I'm not 100% but I believe a common cause is the mounting HOLES either on the frame or stand itself have worn and elongated to the point that you no longer have the original/proper leverage to easily prop the bike on the stand. This has been mentioned from time to time on the Kawasaki boards, so it is a known issue with some of our bikes. My 72 H1B has the same issue - it is VERY difficult to get it up onto the centerstand, though I have yet to actually inspect the mounting holes.

I can't recall what possible cure(s) have been suggested, but possibly either welding up and regrinding the original holes, or maybe welding some heavy duty washers onto the worn holes to restore the original size opening...?

It does sound like a worn pivot problem, remove the spring and check for wear

FAR more likely is that the stand is bent from someone posing/sitting on the bike on main stand, the last 3 inches before the eyes should be straight a LARGE majority of stands are bent from people sat with the bike on the stand and rocking it backwards :?

Mine was just like that, the holes were elongated, lots of slop in stand

Take out both bolts and remove spring, then place parts in round receptacle and forget...... ;)

Sorry, couldn't resist............ :lol: :lol: :lol:

Probably weld up the holes round, or add weld so it doesn't pivot so far forward.

That stand is either as said, holes elongated, or the stand itself is more likely bent from people literally ramming the bike backwards as hard as possible to get it up on the stand. Some people are not strong enough to gently finish setting the bike up on the stand, once the stand over centers as it is being used, with the bike weight literally ramming the stand against its stops as the bike stand goes over center.

The foot lever part of the stand should be parallel with the ground when the stand is fully deployed holding the bike up. In the two pictures shown it isn't bent on the stand, the stand is, and/or, bolt holes elongated, frame stops bent. The stand itself should be standing further up, not at the forward leaning angle it is.
