Home Depot sells the pink stuff in sheets in small bags for "projects". I've found that it's just enough material for three 11" silencers and does pretty well. I think it's around $6. Wear protective gear. It's fiberglass and it's itchy!

Got some 2 stroke wadding for my H2 Baffles from an online motorcycle supplier. Not only was it the perfect thickness it was also possible to get 3 bits from the sheet the exact size of the original H2 wadding. Worked out about $12 plus shipping.....

Does steel wool really offer much silencing?
I like the white FMF stuff best after trying a few; I hate this project so I was looking for quiet but also something that didn't oil clog.
I just tried some special sound attenuation material left over from a work project; it was about $50 for a 4'x4' sheet.
I think it works slighly better but don't have enough hours on it to know the longevity.
Jim's going to try a sample on his next re-pack.

That's coming up soon, too, (I hope).

I just repacked with the white FMF stuff. What I had in there was pink fiberglass home insulation. It was already getting blown out in a couple of spots. I only have a few hundred miles on that packing. The lesson is I could pack more on there is using the pink fiberglass. I like the thickness of the FMF material. Just fat enough to put one wrap with a small overlap. Too thick to put two layers on. That keeps it simple.

I am glad that I looked at my packing because I noticed that I lost a screw that secures the packing in the pipe on one of them. I am pretty sure that losing the baffle while riding is a problem. :o The baffle had only backed out about 1/4".

You'll hear the difference as soon as a baffle comes out. That allows you to turn around immediately and go get it within seconds. It will be smashed flat by the time you get to it.

I have not had the mutch of an issue with the material burning or being tossed out.
The problem I have is that some get oil clogged sooner than others and a big wet packed bunch of sound absorber doesn't attenuate much in the audio frequency band.
Maybe a small hole at the bottom rear of the can to help push out liquid?

How are your oil line check valves, Jim? I used to have liquid oil in my pipes before I fixed mine.

Great point Jim
To be honest I'm not so sure how they were a while back
Joe Byrd made a spare set perfect; I'll keep that in mind at the next repack which I hope is a long way out
