Just one opinion, something to think about - given the limited ground-clearance of a H1, I'd be binning the stand, and getting a shop-stand, for maintenance, etc. When I got onto the early sports bikes with no centre stand, it took me about 5 minutes to get over not having a stand. Haven't missed them since.

Excellent advice, Rod and John. My H2 was very difficult to get on the center stand, and each time I did it, it went farther over. I finally gave up on it and never regretted it. Strangely, my 100 lb heavier Guzzi is easy to put on its center stand, and you can sit on it, rock it back and forth, and do whatever you like, and it doesn't bend or elongate the pivot holes. Different design, I guess.

Mine was just like that, the holes were elongated, lots of slop in stand

How did you repair?
Quit using it, the only way would have been to weld up holes, and re-drill

It would not be the end of the world not having it, a couple of my other bikes dont have them and it's no biggie.
Obviously it is nice to have when lubing the chain or removing the wheel, but I also like to keep it on the centerstand in the garage - it takes up a little less room when stored next to other bikes.
Once I get the sidestand powdercoated and put back on, I planned to pull it for powder anyway. I may look at welding a couple small pieces of metal on it to stop it from going so far forward.

Thanks for all the replies.

Almost all my street bikes have the center stands removed, and are arranged in the corner of the shop so I can get to them whenever I have to work on one of them. I also have two pins for each stand, so I can put the stand back up into the holder brackets, add the pins, and rock the bike onto the stand to work on it.

Just more to consider.

Not a bad idea but I really dont want 15 stands in the corner of the shop!

My H1B is the same way. I use the center stand in the garage and side stand when out riding. Yes it is a PITA to get on stand.

Neither do I, but I have considerably more than 15 for all the bikes I own. I also use them for my friend's bikes I work on that have their center stands removed.

All you people with stand issues should all meet up at a suitable venue , i suggest someone's workshop ,and all help each other to sort all these stands out.............Then maybe a beer or three , and the odd half a cow!
