There are different opinions. For stock cast pistons you can stay at the tight end of the spec or even go a little tighter. Just don't let anyone talk you into more clearance for the center piston. Every time I've gotten cylinders bored the guy at the shop suggests more clearance for the center cylinder "because is runs hotter", which it does not.

kc15842,

I use a bearing retainer adhesive on the inner race. I do so just before I lay the gear shaft assembly into the cases and button up, pulling the slack out on the clutch end just like the clutch release push rod would do. It's also the position I check the gear dogs for best shimming.
I also use retainer adhesive sparingly on the outer race. Even though it has a positioning ring, I have found that the ring fit can have some slight play. Thinking about it, it's just some extra care I like to put into my builds.

What gasket sealant do you recommend?

In my opinion the transmission is in good conditions. Somewhat surprising to see such little marking/wear on the forks. I still don't understand how the bearing chipped and buggered up the thrust washer. I'm sure that contributed to the loud clutch.

The last rebuild the head bolts were replaced but not the studs, guessing. Lots of pitting and assuming tool marks while separating the cylinders

Gentlemen,
What's the working time for the TB1184, it sure seems to set up very fast. Thanks

Ha, I know what you mean, but I can't give you a time, sorry. I know I had to work fast. It's doable though.

Thanks Jim, I was a bit surprised during a test run that in about 3 minutes it was already setting up. Like you said work fast.....
