My question is, does the H1D CDI require this ground wire like the H2 CDI in this image?

H2 CDI Ground Wire.jpg
I finally have the H1-D running. To get the ignition to fire off I had to use a temporary jumper wire grounding the CDI unit to the frame. I looked at the parts manual and see that there is a ground wire 21045-009 wire-lead in the IGNITION / GENERATOR / REGULATOR (H1D) section. I have this ground wire for the battery WIRE-GROUND LEAD 26010-023 and this two terminal ground wire for the main harness WIRE,LEAD 26011-079. Guts has a wonderful rebuild thread, this link shows what appears to be the ground wire 21045-009 wire-lead.

I've already cleaned the powder coating from the ground locations and slathered them with dielectric grease. All this is probably a moot point as I'll most likely follow H2RTuner's advice. I really like this comment from H2RTuner. "One other thing I always do to all my bikes, is to fabricate a dedicated ground wire set from each coil mounting bracket, to ignition unit mount, to engine ground, seems to help the system function. On car systems, I always recommend the battery ground wire connect to the engine first, then to other areas like chassis, body, dash, etc. Ground paths are very important."
